For the last 3 months I have been really excited about adopting a new puppy. My webbie Abbie lives only a few hours away and her doggy got knocked up by the neighbors dog and I agreed to take of the little stinkers home. I’ve been following the progress of the pup since before birth, all the way up until now. I was supposed to finally be able to bring him home after out solo trip in Seattle when he became ill.

A few weeks ago he got another round of vet recommended puppy vaccines including the Leptospirosis vaccine. I did some research on this vaccine after they recommended Pepper get it and it comes with absolutely terrible side effects that vets never warn you about, especially in small and toy breeds. Well poor little Moose had an adverse reaction to the vaccine causing complications with his liver. He is doing better and seemingly happy and comfortable still but they are unsure if it will go away or be permanent and lead to other health issues.

With the medical scares I have had with Pepper and almost losing my shit when Mimi disappeared yesterday I just can’t take on a sick animal. I love animals and if something like this happened after I had already been caring for him I would absolutely take care of it but I can’t take him home knowing I may have to battle with something serious for a long time or possibly forever. I already paid a second pet deposit and was really looking forward to getting Pepper a friend so I am disappointed he won’t be coming with us but also relieved he will be with Abbie who will take wonderful care of him and he can stay close to his mom and daddy dogs.

I might still consider bringing home a second pup but right now I’m just gonna give the ones I have lot’s of lovin

Today was one of the worst days of my life.

I noticed yesterday my cat Mimi had gotten out again. I felt worried but I know by her fat belly she had been eating elsewhere so I assumed she was staying with a neighbor for the evening and not to panic and she’d be back. Well I wake up and she’s still gone. I waited several more hours and still no Mimi! I started to really worry at this point.

Mimi is a rare cat, a Sphynx. She’s NOT supposed to be outside but she would sneak out from time to time and lurk about the yard and come back so I was never too worried. My initial fear was of her getting sick, hurt, or even stolen but since she seemed to just lounge a bit and come back inside I didn’t worry too much about it.

Finally after several hours of waiting and thinking the worst, I made some flyers and went to ask the neighbors if they had seen her. Some said they had, some said they hadn’t but no one had seen her today AT ALL. This concerned me. One neighbor even told me his cat had been killed not too long ago by raccoons and this REALLY freaked me out. At this point I was hysterical. I feared the worst, she had been stolen or killed by an animal.

I had canvased the block several times, tried calling her, nothing. I felt helpless and at the mercy of anyone who might be willing to call and return her. I finally gave up for the night and sulked into a hot bath to cry and the phone rings. It was a neighbor who had my cat! She said she had been with her since yesterday. Apparently she was playing in her yard and she decided to bring her inside and didn’t let her out until she saw my flyer. I think she wanted to keep her but I am really glad she did the right thing and returned her to me.

Such an emotionally draining day. I was sick with worry and grief. I had began to mourn my kitty who wasn’t even dead! My eyes are now dry and red and my head is pounding but I’m snuggling my little bald awkward kitty. Lesson learned. Strict house arrest for Mimi.
